After years of raiding and running Mythic+ dungeons, I realized that most wipes have little to do with gear. They happen because someone missed an important cooldown, lost track of positioning, or simply could not read the fight through a messy interface. This page describes how I organize my own layout: calm, readable, and focused on what matters in the moment.
How My Screen Is Organized
Center. My character, cast bar, and the most important encounter alerts stay near the crosshair area. I never place damage numbers or chat in the middle, so boss mechanics remain visible even during heavy visual effects.
- Unit frames slightly below center, with debuffs enlarged
- Interrupt tracker and party cooldowns on the left edge
- Chat and loot messages pushed to the lower-left corner
If I cannot understand the fight within two seconds of looking at the screen, the layout is too noisy and needs trimming.
Addons I Keep And Why
| Task | My Approach | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Boss timers | One timer bar group, filtered to my role | I hide abilities that never target me |
| Unit frames | Compact raid frames with dispel highlight | Larger icon for magic and curse effects |
| Action bars | Two small bars for rarely used items | Main rotation stays on keybinds, not clicks |
| Maps and quests | Minimal quest tracker, only current zone | Full list only when I plan a long session |

Small Habits That Help In Dungeons
I keep one profile for raids and a second one for open-world questing. The raid profile hides professions, reputation bars, and extra buttons. Before each raid night I spend five minutes checking keybinds, weakaura positions, and sound alerts. That short routine prevents most last-minute surprises.
Questions I Ask Myself After Each Run
- Did I ever lose sight of my character during heavy effects?
- Was any important debuff hidden behind another frame?
- Did I click something that should have been a keybind?
If you try a similar setup, change one thing at a time and run a few dungeons before adjusting again. A calm interface is built gradually, not in a single evening.
